ABOUT ME

WELCOME TO MY WORLD OF COLOUR

WHO AM I?

Hello!

I’m Eloisa (pronounced El-o-ee-sa), a Chilean/Scottish artist, born and raised in North London by my musician parents who surrounded me with music and art. It helped me see the beauty of following your own path and doing something that you love.

My work is all about making the world happier place through bright colours and shapes. It’s something I’ve always loved, but it’s only in the past few years since painting murals that it’s made sense to me and I’ve found something I truly love.

It took me a long time to find my passion and find something I truly love, but I’m glad I got there and can now say that I love my job and filling the world with colour.

EDUCATION AND WORK

Before discovering murals, I got a 2:1 at the Univeristy of Brighton where I studied 3D Materials Practice: wood, ceramics, metals and plastics. I specialised in metals and plastics and my degree show project was making toys and games for children with emotional and behavioural problems, which was based on the work my Mum was going at school. It incorporated my love of colour and fun into a practical tool for children and teachers to use to talk about feelings and for them to open up.

From this work, I then designed toys for kids for M&S and then went to work on Art Ninja, a CBBC program. I then worked in many jobs like making window displays, painting props for events, but mainly worked in film and tv as a prop painter on productions like The Great, Fantastic Beasts, The Peripheral and Captain Marvel.

HOW?

Since discovering the joys of collage in 2018, it has completely changed my life. It was when I started cutting up pieces of coloured paper that everything just made sense to me. I now use it as my tool to play and discover and allows me to turn these collages into murals. I love it! It stops me overthinking and making things perfect and just lets me see what happens when I play.

I have been very fortunate to build this career and work with amazing people and organisations. I love working in schools and teaching kids how to enjoy being creative and seeing their faces light up when they see their artwork coming to life in the mural. I also love transforming businesses spaces and turning them into happy and welcoming environments because everyone deserves to work somewhere they feel excited to walk into.
