CREATIVES IN THE CITY

CREATIVES

A New Meetup For Creatives

Sometimes being a creative in the city can be very lonely, so I decided to change that and start a new meetup especially for people to come together, make connections and create art together.

These meetups are designed to be friendly and welcoming so that you can come and feel confident that you’ll be able to talk to people and make some art.

Networking can be the most excruciating and hideous way of meeting people, so these meetups are the opposite of that! They are less focused on talking about yourself, and more focused on having a lovely time.

You can expect introductory art exercises to create easy ways to talk to new people, some fun group activities to get us to feel safe and comfortable together, and then time to make art with some guided and freeform exercises.

Creatives In The City x Palm Greens

Make Art. Meet People. Eat Well.

Join us for an evening of collage, colour and community at Palm Greens, Shoreditch's beloved plant-focused café in The Sanctuary &Soul, an experimental social wellness and co-living hub.

Creatives In The City is a new workshop series designed to bring London's makers, dreamers and curious minds together — not just to make art, but to make friends. Each event is a chance to slow down, get a little creative and connect with like-minded people over something made and shared together.

We have combined forces with Palm Greens to create a unique creative experience, mixing art, food and conversation. A chance for us to come together, share and create memories together.

The Workshop Guided by Eloisa Henderson-Figueroa an artist whose practice is rooted in finding joy and injecting colour into the everyday, this session uses food as its creative jumping-off point. Working across mixed media and a range of different techniques, you'll be gently led through a collage and drawing workshop designed to help you open up, relax and enjoy yourself. There's no experience needed and nothing to get right — that's the whole point. Art has a wonderful way of giving us something to focus on while we talk, melting away any first-meeting awkwardness and letting real conversation flow naturally. All materials are provided, so just bring yourself.

The Feast Throughout the workshop, we'll have a beautiful family-style grazing menu crafted by the Palm Greens team: generous, seasonal, plant-forward dishes designed to be shared, lingered over and enjoyed. You'll be welcomed with a free drink on arrival to get things started, and additional drinks are available to purchase throughout the evening.

The Food Palm Greens was founded by couple Kali and Memby to fill a gap in the London lunch market: good quality, well sourced, healthy lunches. What started as a lunch concept soon grew into events, catering and an evening service. The latter born from Kali's background as a private chef and her love of seasonal, ever changing menus.

Kali trained at New York's Natural Gourmet Institute and believes in plant focused cooking, drawing on global flavours to create bright and memorable dishes. Paired with low intervention wines and a small but well curated cocktail list.

Mem spent 20 years as a musician before moving into hospitality, where for him service is the show: welcoming people, hosting, and creating an experience they won't forget.

Come alone, bring a friend, leave with something you made, a belly full of good food and someone new you like.

What to expect?

You will be welcomed in with a complimentary drink and a fun creative warm up exercise for us to get to know each other and get rid of the awkward small talk!

We then move onto some short exercises for us to get into the creative mood and explore different mediums, which then leads us on to create artwork based on food using a range of drawing, collage, stickers and tapes.

Throughout the workshop we will be eating from the amazing grazing menu provided by Palm Greens, where we can chat, continue making art and make new connections.

The Face Behind The Idea

I’m Eloisa, a North London born Chilean/Scottish artist artist bringing colour and joy to people through my artwork. I want to make the world a better place through art and workshops.

I created these meetups because of a need in me to connect with other creatives in London. Being self employed can be a tough place and it’s nice to be able to hang out with people, share ideas, talk about life and have a few drinks!

I am naturally an introvert and was excruciatingly shy as a young person, but I have learnt to overcome my fears and create events for people to get to know one another and spread some joy.

Running workshops in schools, businesses and for events is a pleasure, as I get to see what is inside people’s brains and it makes me very happy!

I have run workshops for Sky Arts, Tate Modern, Crafts Council, Ted Baker and many schools around the UK.
