Do you ever find yourself not making enough time for you and your creativity?

Is there always something that seems more important?

Does work and life take over?

Me too! That’s why I wanted to create this 4 week course, so that we can make time for ourselves, come together and just spend time making art together.

It’s so easy to spend hours scrolling on our phones, but then when it comes to making art there always seems to be an excuse of not enough time, or that there are other things you need to be doing, or that you won’t even try because it’s not going to be good enough.

We need to give ourselves permission to slow down and make art for ourselves.

How does it work?

Each week will have a different theme and way that we will work. We will be using painting, drawing, collage and mixed media. Each workshop will focus on how we can explore our creativity further through techniques and materials.

We will meet at the same day and time each week on Zoom to create a routine and allow ourselves an hour of pure uninterrupted creativity.

I will give you prompts each week for you to go into your week looking for creativity. We want to be flooded with inspiration!

What do I need?

You will be sent a list of materials you’ll need for each week. Materials like paint, drawing materials, and coloured papers etc.

You will need space to make your artwork, somewhere like a desk or a floor.

What will I get out of this course?

This 4 week course is designed to give you (and me!) accountability. We will commit to meeting every week and spending time getting creative. We aren’t going to judge ourselves on the end result, we are just going to enjoy using different techniques and making for the sheer fun of it!

By the end of the course you should have a body of work that should reflect how you have felt throughout the making process and should continue to inspire you to keep being creative for yourself.

You will have given yourself permission and the time to do something truly for you and not anyone else.

Why?

This has become important to me because I recently had surgery which left me not able to do much. The only things I’ve been able to do are make art and go on walks. Small things like sketching or seeking out different things on my walks has really changed my whole outlook on life. It’s given me the time to want to be creative and because I can’t work, I don’t have that as an excuse anymore.

I’ve been PLAYING!! It has ignited a fire inside me and I can’t stop making art now. I’m throwing paint around, I’m getting my hands involved, I’m making large paintings, I’m scribbling and I’m LOVING IT!

I just want people to feel the way I do and really open themselves up to what is possible. Scribbling all over a piece of paper might sound silly, but it feels so good. It doesn’t have to be an amazing piece of artwork, it can just be for fun.

That’s why I want to share this feeling and make sure that as many people get to feel it as possible.

When and where?

On Zoom for an hour every Monday on May 18th, May 25th, June 1st, June 8th.

8-9pm UK time. Please check if you are joining from another country.

These sessions will be recorded and will be sent out to you after the session. Please try and join live! It really helps to do it together.

Do I need to be an artist?

No not at all! This course is for anyone and everyone. Whether you’re an artist that needs to make time for themselves or someone that hasn’t picked up a paintbrush in 20 years. This is for you.

This course is for adults, but children are most welcome as long as they can be supervised or work together with an adult.

Let’s show up for ourselves and spend time unleashing our inner artist!
